Focus the Passions and Spread Out the Crazy

MAKE SOMETHING MONDAY

TRY SOMETHING NEW TUESDAY

WRITE IT OUT WEDNESDAYS

TACKLE THE CLUTTER THURSDAYS

FIND SOME FUN FRIDAYS

EXPLORE SOMEWHERE SATURDAY & SUNDAY

That's my plan. Well for January at least. Let's take this slow, nice and easy. I don't like New Year Resolutions because like my friend Samantha points out, if you want to start something or change something do it. Don't wait for the New Year or next week. I was driving in my car over the weekend and had this idea about focusing my brain on something each day of the week to help keep, well focused. I can easily get fixated on a new hobby or passion and forget the other hobbies or passions I love.

On Mondays, I get to make something. The possibilities are endless and I love just the thought of this.

This Monday, I made signs and decorations for my own house. I adore snowmen, but feel they get lost in the Christmas decor. For this reason, when Christmas comes down the snowmen go up.

On Tuesdays. I am going to try something new. Granted this might often be a new recipe, but I can see trying a new photography technique, crafting skill, exercise, type of book, and again the possibilities are amazing! Really I am always looking for new things to try, so this just helps me focus it.

This Tuesday, I made 3 new recipes. They were all delicious. Even as leftovers today, the chicken and veggies were a great lunch.

On Wednesdays, I am writing it out. This one is complex. One I want to work on documenting our lives better. I used to keep track years ago, and I find as I am getting older I forget the little stuff that happens too easily. I know I won't write everyday, that involves a discipline I don't have yet. However taking a few minutes once a week to write about our past week and plan the next a bit, I think I can do that. As you can see, I am writing it out now. Reflecting on the past few days and the plan going forward. My husband and I have been working on managing money better and started using a budget app from You Need A Budget. I must say, for the first time I feel like I am controlling my income instead of it controlling me. On Wednesdays I will plan on how to use the household funds and keep my stress level about money down. Perhaps having a plan to write once a week will push me to get the stories trapped in my head down on paper too, but let's start small.

On Thursdays, I am tackling the clutter and trash that bogs down my life. I could honestly spend everyday doing this and still not be satisfied. This is why I am only going to allow myself one day to worry about piles of papers, messy craft stacks, the gazillion photos that I need to purge and seriously the list goes on forever. I don't often volunteer on Thursdays and if I dedicate the hours the kids are at school to tackling the clutter, I think I will tackle the internal voice of organization that never shuts up.

On Fridays, it is time to have some fun time with the family and friends.

Over the weekend, I hope to find new places to explore. I have always loved finding new and fun things to do with the kids when we travel, but often forget to do the same when we are in our own state. It truly is amazing the free and cheap activities you can find if you are looking. Plus I have 2 video game junkies at home, they really need to get out of the house more! So let the adventures begin.

4 Generations

When I saw an image like this online with men, I knew I had to try it with the 4 generations in my husband's family. I even took a frame and used the vinegar/steel wool stain to it so I would have a one of a kind frame for the shot. I can not wait to have this printed and I am thinking I found my first canvas order for my house.

The trailer!

I love this trailer. It was dated tho. 1980's decor and years of wear had made it dirty, smelly and just ok. Now with some hard work it is comfy, cozy and bright. Tomorrow we roll out on a family vacation in the updated long, long trailer and I can not wait to spend 45 days relaxing in the comfort and beauty of my cheerful trailer.

7 HABITS POSTER

Sometimes I skip right to the end and Sharpen the Saw, and make things like this.
Instead of putting first things first (sleep).
