Old School and Special

If you know me, you know I purge things. I don't like to keep extra stuff lying around, stored in boxes, never seeing the light of day. So when I decide to keep something that is old it usually is pretty special. Case in point, the Fisher-Price Play Family Castle and people. I loved these as a kid. My Grandma and Grandpa Hatch kept just a handful of toys at their house for when we came over. The castle and the people were always played with.
When I had my own kids and took them over to visit my grandparents, the castle was still the best toy there. I searched on eBay until I found one to buy, bought it and they played with using the people from my collection. When my grandparents left his earth to be with their Heavenly Father, I inherited the castle and all the people. We gave our eBay castle away to another little boy since we didn't need two.
Lately the castle has become the hot toy again. The kids have a new version of the castle they bought at a garage sale, and they wage epic battles between the two. Not exactly how my girl cousins and I played with the castle, but still amazing that it is loved just the same.
Tonight while the kids were playing I started pulling out the people that go with the castle and was setting them up to take a picture for my 365 photo of the day. I snapped away and loved too many to pick one. So here are several of my favorites.
Also after I left the room and left all the people sitting around the castle, the kids instantly took it over and began to play with it. Boy did that make me smile. I bet it makes Grandma and Grandpa smile too!

A sample of the people.
